The biggest reactions, trends and takeaways from Requestival

triple j’s first ever Requestival generated some interesting statistics with the request totals coming in at 105,430 and over 26,831 new downloads of the triple j app.
 
There were also 38,000 texts across the week, nearly two and a half times as many as they would get in a regular week.
 
You never thought you’d hear that on triple j
Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ plus songs from pop royalty like Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Kylie, Cardi B, Harry Styles and much more!
 
TV theme songs were a massive hit
triple j received requests for themes to everything from Game of Thrones to Grand Designs. The most popular was the theme to the cricket, Channel 9’s Wide World of Sports that had nearly 380 requests, making it the #2 most requested song.
 
Stage and screen
Songs from musicals and movies were a very big deal, in fact the most demanded song in Requestival was John Williams’ beloved Star Wars track ‘Duel of the Fates’ (580 requests). From Broadway, ‘Defying Gravity’ from the smash stage hit Wicked and ‘All That Jazz’ from Chicago.

Across the week triple j played everything from John Cena’s entrance music to Axel F’s ‘The Crazy Frog’, Scatman John’s ‘Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)’ and much more.
