Boost Digital previews new radio service

Boost Digital Radio in Preview Mode

The world’s first on-line content portal for independent music and film has launched Boost Digital Radio with a 10 minute sample of what’s to come once the internet radio station starts to stream live.

The launch, by coincidence, happens in the week that Communications Minister Helen Coonan announced that low power community stations, open narrowcasters and Section 40 off-band licensees, which includes World Audio (Radio Two), will miss out in the initial allocation of digital radio licences.

This coincidence is not lost on Boost Digital CEO Graeme Logan who was one of the original seed investors in World Audio and its national AM radio network concept, but who has not been directly involved with World Audio for three years.

“What excites me is our future direction as we take Boost Digital not just online but to the mobile phone and MP3 market,” says Logan.

Boost Digital Radio will give exposure only to independent, unsigned artists and is programmed and operated by experienced radio industry professionals including Ian MacRae.

“When I was first approached by Graeme to be involved I wrongly imagined, with trepidation, a station featuring dreadful, head banging garage bands. In fact I’ve been blown away by the professional quality and range of genres in the music already submitted,” MacRae has told radioinfo.

Unsigned bands can download information from the website about how to submit their music for airplay.
