Brekky announcer disturbs hot burglary

Angelo Di Carlo, of Mackay’s Murri FM 105.9 had an interesting start to his breakfast shift yesterday morning.

The announcer says he entered the station premises on the first floor of Mercury House in the city, when he came across an intruder in the building, “I came round the corner unlocked the door not even noticing that it had been smashed open and I saw this dude crouching and quickly walking back into our CD Library.”

Police and sniffer dogs were at the crime scene within minutes, but the intruder manage to flee after causing considerable damage to station property.

Despite being in shock, Di Carlo managed to start his broadcast on time, opening the show with, “welcome to another day in our paradise, it’s five past six and we are in for another warm day!”

In a media release, he opined “well I’m glad we are not in America because the dude could have had a gun. Hmm, in America I probably would have had a gun!” Mackay police are probably pleased that isn’t the case.
