Brian Carlton leaving Tasmania Talks

Brian Carlton has resigned from his Tasmania Talks program, which he has hosted for the past four years.

The show is broadcast on the Grant Broadcasters network in Launceston, Devonport, Burnie, Queenstown and Scottsdale, and in Hobart on 7HO Classic Hits (DAB+).

Carlton, his producers and the show Tasmania Talks are the recipients of numerous radio industry awards.

In an interview with radioinfo’s Peter Saxon in 2017, Carlton commented on how he puts his program together: When it comes to putting together a show I don’t really think about it differently on AM or FM. What I think about is the nature of the audience  to which I’m broadcasting. Thats a far more critical thing than whether a scratchy AM frequency or a nice clean FM frequency.”

Carlton says he is “grateful to the company for the opportunity to launch a talk show in Northern Tasmania. I’ve become genuinely attached to my audience and the Tasmania Talks team.

“I appreciate the warmth and support I’ve received over the journey. I’m leaving for personal reasons and remain on good terms with Grant Broadcasters. My commitment, passion and belief in Tasmania remains unwavering.”

Executive General Manager of Tasmanian Broadcasters, Tim Holder has told radioinfo: “We understand Brian’s decision to move on and wish him well for the future. The company is appreciative of what Brian and his team has achieved, particularly in the area of service to the communities in which Tasmania Talks is broadcast.”

His last show will be on Friday 25th of October, 2019.
