Brisbane Lions Liven Up Sports Radio

Brisbane Lions’ AFL stars, Jason Akermanis and Craig McRae, about to kick some goals on community radio.

They will host THE AKA & MACCA SHOW, a weekly hour long chat program.

The two players have developed the show, which will broadcast to a national listening audience via the Community Broadcasting Satellite Network, ComRadSat, and the National Indigenous Radio Service, NIRS.

Troy Garner, CBAA Executive Assistant, says it is “most heartening to see two popular high profile sportspeople, recognising the value and benefits of the community broadcasting sector in this way, considering their commercial appeal.”

Akermanis believes the show will offer something new to the national radio scene. Because they are both current players, they believe they will be able to bring, every week, a rare insight into the inner workings of AFL in 2004.

The Aka & Macca show will start on Monday 29 March on NIRS from 5-6pm and the following week (beginning Monday 5 April) on ComRadSat from 6-7pm.

ComRadSat broadcasts to 176 community radio stations, while NIRS goes out to 130.
