The first radio ratings survey to be undertaken in the Queensland city of Bundaberg have released today, as part of an initiative to promote regional radio.
Hitz FM 93.9 was the station listened to most with 23.3%, followed by 93.1 Sea FM with 22% and ABC Local Radio 17.4%
In breakfast Hitz FM was again number one with 24.1%, followed by Sea FM with 21% and ABC LOcal radio 19.3%.
Commercial Radio Australia chief executive officer Joan Warner said 1,000 people had been surveyed for the research, which will provide useful data on station audiences.
“Commercial radio stations in Bundaberg have been strong supporters of local events, community groups and businesses for many years,” Ms Warner said. “By having ratings data available for the first time, we will be able to demonstrate radio’s importance to the community and gain valuable insights into how to best serve our listeners and advertisers into the future.”
Bundaberg, in the southeast coast of Queensland, is the centre of Queensland’s sugar district and has a growing tourism industry.
The survey was conducted by Xtra Insights and is one of 25 radio ratings surveys to be conducted across regional Australia this year to raise awareness of the value of regional radio.
