Cactus a piece of living radio history

In a small radio studio in Sydney, a little piece of radio history comes to life, poking fun at politics and visiting VIPs.

Earlier this year radioinfo reported on How Green Was My Cactus’ record-breaking 5,285 episodes so far.

This weekend, ABC TV has covered the long running radio serial in a feature story.

“It’s kind of like being a characturist,” says Robyn Moore, who plays Julia Gillard and other female characters in the satire.

Radio drama was once the mainstay of radio in Australia, with Blue Hills holding the record,  27 years of broadcasting, but Cactus is fast catching up, after 26 years on air.
