This week ABC Radio Brisbane have been celebrating their 100th birthday. Last Saturday the station hosted its annual open day. Tomorrow, Friday July 25, the team will be broadcasting live from Queen Street Mall where you have the opportunity to head down and meet breakfast presenters Loretta Ryan and Joel Spreadborough as well as Steve Austin, Kat Feeney and Drive’s Ellen Fanning.
Those who attended the open day will have had the chance to see the restored gramophone that belonged to 4QG as it was known then. In the 1920s the gramophone would have been connected to a microphone to transmit music to audiences.
