Central Coast survey: King tide as Sea FM rolls in to first place

Sea FM has absolutely dominated the Central Coast’s 1st survey result for 2012, with a surge of over five points to take top spot. It was a team effort by the station, with solid gains across the board allowing wins in every timeslot. In addition, every age bracket up to and including 40-54 was won by Southern Cross Austereo’s traditionally youth-focused station.

Breakfast with Paddy, Ciel and Dan (pictured) led the way with a mighty surge, up 5.3 to a 17 share.

Of the Sydney stations, 2GB was the strongest coming in 5th with a 9.8 share.

Station Highlights

Sea FM

– Up to 17.7 overall from 12.4, which takes them from 3rd to 1st.

– Saturation amongst 10-17 (+17.4 to 55.5) and 18-24 (+15.8 to 39.4)

– Strong gains in Breakfast (+5.3 to 17.0) and Drive (+7.1 to 21.7)

2GO FM

– Losses across all timeslots and demos contribute to fall to second and 13.2 overall, down from 17.7.

– Obliterated amongst 18-24, losing three quarters of listeners (-12.0 to 4.1) but remained top amongst 55-64 (-4.1 to 21.4)

– Consistent drops in Breakfast, Mornings, Afternoons and Drive leading to slip to second in these shifts

Star 104.5

– Substantial hit bumps DMG station into 3rd (-2.9 to 11.4)

– Despite falls across most demos, Star picked up some of 2GO and triple j’s (-5.1 to 6.2) slack in the 18-24 bracket (+5.3 to 21.6)

– Poor Breakfast result (-2.3 to 10.2) sees hugely worrying drop from 2nd to 5th

ABC 92.5

– Marginal climb by less than a point to 10.7

– Big jump in 55-64 demo (+8.3 to 19.8) has them a close second in that bracket as well as 65+ (+1.4 to 21.1)

– Largely flat across the day, but a drop in Drive could be of concern (-1.8 to 10.3)
