Chilli bromance required “a man that was hairy all over”

Breakfast in Launceston

A brand new breakfast show kicked off in Launceston this morning on Chilli 90.1 FM

Tim Green had been doing the shift on his own after former partner Josh Torney left to work with SCA on the Gold Coast.

After a period of mourning, Tim recently launched a search for the perfect “bromance”.

“I required a man that was hairy all over and would still allow me to press all the buttons (and his) in the morning. I also demanded a naked stunt while playing back-to-back hits off the racks in the contract.”

And guess who put his hand up?

Former Nova announcer Dan Taylor.

“I see the show as a great opportunity to engage the Northern Tasmanian audience in a way they have never experienced before. By making the show as fun, creative and interactive on air as possible as well as broadening the online community to lofty (Ben Lomand-like) heights,” says Dan.

Tim adds, “I will give my entire body to the show and Launceston is craving good radio with some passion, so hopefully Dan will enjoy this platform.”

According to the station’s website “the bumpy road to unearthing a soul to intertwine with is one that sent Tim on the mission of his life …”

“It all started on ‘Timder’ – a location-based social discovery app that is as classic and timeless as Shakespeare’s finest works,” says Tim.

But throwing two strangers together isn’t always easy (we’ve all sat next to those awkward on-lining dating dates).

“I think we both have enough experience to fake this arranged marriage,” says Tim.

Dan’s a little more serious, just, “I love the challenge – having been thrown into a few similar scenarios over the years.

“It is always a work in progress at the beginning…and usually listeners hate me for a good month before welcoming me into their humble abodes when they discover I am a beautiful unique snowflake, capable of being loved.”

The boys have been champing at the bit to get to get the show up and running.

“I have been by myself for almost two months and Launceston is over The Bachelor updates,” says Tim.

Dan describes their debut as “Terrifexcited.

“Both emotions are running wild through my veins. Scared because I’m not sure what to expect along with the judgement/pressure that comes with replacing a well loved team member. …excited – because I know the potential of what can be achieved when you are around a positive, great team environment,” says Dan.

So are the boys hoping for a fairytale?

“I hope there is a divorce at some point and some make up love in the near future over a Nickleback lunch hour,” says Tim.

Dan? “Well I sold my soul to an evil octopus Queen in exchange for my vocal chords, so I have to wait until loves first kiss, or else I’m resigned to living under the sea the rest of my life. But from all reports, crabs and aquatic orchestras make for a pretty awesome lifestyle down there.”

This is going to be one interesting breakfast show.
