Clinton Maynard has been announced as the new host of 2GB Drive after the surprise resignation of Chris O’Keefe at the end of last year. Sydney Now with Clinton Maynard begins Monday January 27, from 3 – 6pm.
Maynard has many awards for his journalism and news coverage including four ACRAs, including the Brian White Award for Excellence in Journalism in 2022, 23 and 24. You can listen to Radioinfo’s chat with him at the 2024 Awards below.
Clinton said:
“When I was 15, I walked into 2GB’s studio as a work experience kid in love with talk radio and spent a week with the Drive Show.
To be appointed to present that same show, three decades later, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to talk about what matters to our Sydney listeners every day and have a few laughs along the way.”
Joining the 2UE newsroom as a cadet journalist in 1997 Clinton went on to become a crime reporter, political reporter and eventually the News Director and Content Director at the station. He has hosted news talk programs on 2UE, Macquarie Sports Radio and 2GB, where he was most recently the Weekday Overnights host and well as a regular fill-in presenter.
With this appointment it does leave an overnight vacancy. Clinton took the role Tuesdays to Fridays to reduce Mike Jeffreys‘ workload. Mike has been doing it over the summer and may continue back as it was for the foreseeable future.
