Earlier this year the CMTO conducted an extensive recruitment process for a Project Manager role in order to prepare for the delivery of their Business Development Focused Training and after considering many high-quality applications and completing an interview process, have decided to make two hires to complement their strategic direction.
Dr. Charlotte Bedford will take on the role of Project Manager (Business Development Focused Training) and Jason Velleley has joined the team as a Head Trainer.
Dr. Bedford will oversee the development and implementation of a range of activities to enhance business, leadership, management and social enterprise skills for people volunteering or working in community media.
Charlotte, who produced her first community radio show at the age of 15, is currently a community media trainer, practitioner and researcher with over 25 years of experience of developing, managing and delivering media projects alongside diverse and often marginalised groups.
She was instrumental in establishing the Prison Radio Association and launching the first national prison radio service in the UK.
After immigrating to Australia, Charlotte used her experience in community media and prison radio to form the basis of her academic research.
Jason’s role as head trainer will see him on a resource development role at the CMTO, working closely with Charlotte on the Business Development Focused Training resources.
In addition to this, he will act as support for the National Training Manager, Emma Couch, now that she is working part-time.
Jason is an accomplished community broadcaster, with over 20 years of experience in community radio and he currently produces the nationally syndicated CRN program Aussie Music Weekly, and continues to lend his skills as a Training Coordinator to 2HHH FM.
Additionally, Jason’s 15+ years’ experience in business development and management in the banking and finance industry will be crucial to resource development for the CMTO’s Business Development Focused Training project.
He is also an Accredited Trainer for the CMTO, with a Certificate IV in Assessment and Training.
Jason has commenced working part-time in the CMTO office in Alexandria while Dr Bedford will be based in Adelaide beginning mid April
