CMTO launches Audio Storytelling Mentorship

fbi.radio’s All The Best and the Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO) have launched an Audio Storytelling Mentorship.

Over 12 weeks, 10 emerging producers from community radio stations across Australia will learn the fundamentals of audio storytelling skills from narrative planning, recording, scripting and creative production. They will be guided by training and mentorship from industry leaders which is nationally accredited. At the end of the program, each participant will produce a 5 minute audio feature or documentary.

The program is open to any aspiring creative or producer, with people who face barriers to accessing paid educational learning pathways particularly encouraged to apply.

The program includes:

  • Industry-standard and national accredited radio training through the CMTO.
  • An experienced mentor, who will work with you.
  • Facilitated workshops in fundamental audio storytelling skills.
  • Networking with audio producers around the country.
  • Your work shared nationally via All The Best and the Community Radio Network.
  • Support to access further training and story commission opportunities.

From 2013 to 2020, the CMTO delivered the National Feature and Documentary Series, boosting the careers of numerous producers and journalists. This program will adapt the accredited curriculum and framework to support a new cohort in a flexible format, with an emphasis on supporting new makers.

All The Best is the home of new Australian audio storytelling and supports over 100 emerging producers to bring weird and wonderful ideas to life on air each year. The Audio Storytelling Mentorship is an opportunity to make audio storytelling knowledge, frameworks and resources accessible and connect with producers from diverse communities and backgrounds.

Submissions close Thursday May 1st. The application is here. If you have any questions contact All The Best Executive Producer Phoebe Adler-Ryan at [email protected]
