Commercial networks snap up Boom Radio Class of 2024

Boom Radio, North Metropolitan TAFE‘s flagship student-run station in Perth, continues to impact the radio industry well beyond WA.

Several Advanced Diploma of Radio & Podcasting students have recently been recruited by major networks across New South Wales.

With SCA, ARN, Capital and the Super Radio Network actively scouting and hiring upcoming talent, Boom Radio has become a go-to source for industry-ready professionals.

In the past month alone, four Boom graduates have secured significant roles in NSW’s competitive radio market.

The latest success story is Aidan Owen (pictured above), Boom’s Drive presenter and Head of Creative, who has joined Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) as a Workday Announcer on the Hit Network in Wagga Wagga.

Phillip Vinciullo, Head of Radio & Podcasting at North Metro TAFE, says “It’s incredibly rewarding to see Boom Radio’s (North Metro TAFE) soon-to-be graduates take on impactful roles across the country. We’re proud to be on the radar of Australia’s top radio networks. These recruitment outcomes validate the quality of our training and the talent of our students.”

Other notable placements this term include:

Sam (Chang-won Park) Goldsworthy, former Content Director & Breakfast Host at Boom, who has joined the Capital Network as a Radio Announcer for XLFM Snowy Mountains and 3GG Warragul.

Aidan Liveris, previous Sports Director and Big Breakfast host, has been hired by ARN for Power FM in Bega, as an On-Air and Operations Assistant.

Jack Wallace, former Podcast Director and Drive Host, now working as a Workday Announcer at 92.9 Tamworth with the Super Radio Network.

Boom Radio lecturer Bryant Van Dijken says “We are witnessing significant industry interest in our students. Each of these hires underscores Boom’s reputation as a prime launching ground for future radio talent. We are immensely proud of their achievements.”
