Connect Me to the World at RadioAsia 2012

The 2012 Radio Asia conference will take place in Jakarta next month with a range of international speakers, including many Australians. The conference theme, Connect Me to the World, will mix radio topics with mobile technologies and multimedia developments.

 

Day 1 of the schedule (May 7) begins with workshops on Radio Content and the Dynamic Role of DJs by the International Media & Broadcasting Academy (www.IMBAcademy.com.au) and Radio for Capacity Building in Disaster Preparedness by the UK’s Rapid Respone Radio Unit.

ABU Secretary General Javad Mohttaghi will open the conference that afternoon, followed by sesisons on:

Connecting Audiences to the World: Engaging Listeners of all Generations

Technology Enhances Radio Services: Digital Radio Systems and the New Face of Radio, with a range of Australian speakers including Mark Neely.

 

On Day 2 (May 8), topics include:

Radio Scene in Indonesia: The Boom is at the Door

Managing Radio Content in the Current Media World

Promoting Environmental Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction

Community Radio Movement: Supplementing Public Broadcasting Role

 

On Day 3 (9 May) CRA’s Joan Warner and ABC Radio Australia’s Mike McCluskey  will both give presentations on new radio developments.

 

Of special interest will be a session calledMaking Money from Mobile Phones: Taking Radio Business to a New Level, presented by All In Media’s Jason Malaure, and the latest news on the expansion of talkSPORT from Jimmy Buckland (pictured), Director of Strategy at UTV Media, titled Sports Radio: Offering Content on International Sports.
