CONVERGE Sydney First National Media program finalised

First Nations Media Australia is holding its national gathering of First Nations media organisations, CONVERGE Sydney on 21-23 November at TAFE NSW, Ultimo.

The gathering will bring together broadcasters, content-makers, station personnel, stakeholders and other industry experts for plenary discussions, workshops and networking, culminating in the inaugural First Nations Media Awards.
 
CONVERGE Sydney will kick off with a welcome from event co-hosts, Gadigal Information Service, Home of Koori Radio and delegates can take a guided tour of the Koori Radio studios from 4:30pm, then move up to the rooftop for a welcome to country.
 
The conference will include a keynote presentation by Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, A plenary discussion on news production and networking, workshops for technicians focused on software and equipment and a tour of the newly upgraded ABC studios.
 
Throughout the day delegates will have the opportunity to talk about broadcast technologies with Broadcast Components, business development with Supply Nation, funding opportunities with the Community Broadcasting Foundation, careers at First Nations Media Australia, mental health reporting with Everymind and more in the Trade Hall. 
 
Fridays program includes an update on the sector-wide employment strategy, plenary discussion of career pathways and the variety of training support models available, then a breakout discussion group focused on plans for reaching the Government’s 90% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment target by 2020.
 
The First Nations Media Australia AGM and Board elections will be held at the end of Fridays program before CONVERGE Sydney finishes with a double celebration with the inaugural First Nations Media Awards and indigiTUBE launch with live performances from Alice Skye, Marlene Cummins, Dallas Woods and Baker Boy.
