Cyril and Albo crash each other’s chats on the Kyle and Jackie O Show

After the Federal Budget last night, the last before the election, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was doing the rounds talking up what it was offering. The KIIS Network’s Kyle & Jackie O Show had organised for DJ Cyril to come in for a chat and an exclusive live DJ set which was going along wonderfully when the PM called.

You don’t want to keep the Prime Minister waiting so Kyle had to interrupt Cyril. But things took a turn when the DJ intervened with some questions of his own, with the conversation going down a path that Graham Norton and his celeb guests would have been proud of.

KYLE: Internationally renowned DJ Cyril. Do you have any questions for the Prime Minister that only relates to your industry?

DJ CYRIL: Um, not really, to be honest. I’m sort of chilling here looking at the beautiful Sydney Harbour.

ANTHONY ALBANESE: I’ll tell you one of the things we need to do, Cyril, and watch this space. There’s more support for music festival that have really declined in recent years, and we’ll have more to say about that as well. But we think that the art sector is really important. Our quality of life is about the economy and our standard of living, what’s in our pocket.

KYLE: And pill testing as well. Pill testing at those festivals, free pill testing.

DJ CYRIL: Selling pills.

KYLE: No, no. Not selling pills. You’re not allowed to sell pills; that’s a side hustle. Sorry, Prime Minister. What do you think of that?

ANTHONY ALBANESE: That saves lives, and the New South Wales government are doing their trial. And I think that’s a good thing.

DJ CYRIL: I like the 24-hour thing in Sydney.

KYLE: Oh, the party all day, all night thing?

DJ CYRIL: Yeah. That’s happening.

ANTHONY ALBANESE: Oh, absolutely. Chris Minns is bringing the fun back to New South Wales.

The chat then wandered down to Love Island and Albo’s friendship with Sophie Monk. You can listen to the whole interview / DJ set / conversational pivots above.
