In the lead-up to McHappy Day this Saturday, 16 November, The Hit Network‘s Dan & Christie have covered more than 1,500 kilometres across Tasmania and regional Victoria as part of a House-to-House Tour to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Alongside raising awareness and funds, Dan & Christie heard heartfelt stories like Brie‘s from Wodonga:
Dan: “We’re having a chat now to Brie. Your family has been affected by the Ronald McDonald House Charities, as you stayed their just recently.”
Brie: “We just got home from the Ronald McDonald House Charities after 169 nights, down in Melbourne at North Fitzroy. We had little Frankie, at 23 weeks, and she was with us for four-and-a-half months, and it became our home away from home. We are super grateful for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. You don’t need it until you need it.”
Christie: “You told us something really beautiful off-air – we’re both tearing up – your beautiful baby, her name is Frankie Mae.”
Dan: “It’s unimaginable grief that you’ve gone through. How is your family holding up?”
Brie: “We had her celebration of life on the weekend. We’re full of passion to keep her memory alive. But a big thank you to Ronald McDonald House.”
Christie: “This is why we’re doing it; we’re doing it for the kids.”
Dan: “We’re raising money for the families that need it most. Thank you so much for sharing your story, Brie.”
The tour began with a visit to Ronald McDonald House in Hobart, where Dan and Christie cooked meals for the families staying there. Other stops included Mildura, Bendigo, Shepparton, Wodonga and Ronald McDonald House in Melbourne. The charity has served, supported and housed around 64,000 Australian families annually.
RMHC Support Coordinator Rhianna Peters told Dan & Christie: “If we can take the stress away, even just a little bit… it makes our house a home for those families.”
With Dan & Christie’s commitment to spreading awareness and joy on their journey, the House-to-House Tour is sharing the mission of RMHC and bringing attention to stories that inspire and remind us of the power of community support.
