Darwin breakfast announcer Mel Little has been sacked from Mix 104.9 reportedly for favouring friends and family with valuable prizes.
According to the NT News up to eight of her friends and family won tickets, valued at $285 to $325 each, to the Darwin Cup Carnival Ladies Day function in the Schweppes Pavilion last Wednesday.
The station had purchased a table of ten from the Darwin Turf Club in the VIP enclosure with Mel Little and co-host Greg Vincent to treat what was to be eight lucky listeners at a gala day out at the races. Instead, it is alleged, that the lucky ones were those related to Ms Little (left) or were her friends.
In a statement to the NT News, Ms Little said she did not act dishonestly. “At worst my actions could be described as naive,” she said. “I loved my time working at Mix 104.9 and wish them continued success.”
Ms Little was sacked on Friday. No trace of her can be found on the Mix 104.9 website.
Naive? Has she looked up the word fraud? Her actions were illegal if she has given them to family and friends.
I read with interest about the sacking of announcer Mel Little for giving away tickets to her friends valued at $285 to $325 each.
Yet Hawkesbury Radio was involved in a competition called free prizes where there were cash prizes drawn at the station . A director won $ 1000 The directors partner won $ 1000 and another directors wife won $ 1000, this was reported to the chairman who did nothing about it, what a rort these directors and the chairman are all still on the board yet they crucify a member and have him expelled by a majority of members that were hand picked by them for asking about this rort and many other questions about the finances of the station
This is very similar to happened at Hawkesbury Radio, where three directors or spouses won $1000 cash each in sponsors competitions. The directors have ignored complaints by members.
