David Rogerson is setting off next week, April 30, with a group of old blokes (David is pictured on the far right), Driving For A Cancer Cure.
Along with ten others, driving different Mercedes Classic vehicles, the old blokes are aiming to raise $200,000 for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, double what they raised in 2023.
It’s not a race or an off road rally. The fundraising is supported by local charity events along the weeklong journey. They’ll be talking to local groups about the goals for the important fundraising research and they cover all their own expenses from accommodation to meals and fuel.
It’s about the friends and family who have been lost along the way. David’s Mercedes has the names of radio buddies and close family lost to cancer in the past 5 years written on the side window.
The experienced radio professional he is, David is available this week and next for interviews, background information and more. The map of the drive is above.
The Old Blokes were even recognised on the floor of NSW State Parliament last week.
