Deadline looms for Advanced Radio Course

Applications for the Radio Training Institute’s first full time Advanced Radio Course close next week and RTI General Manager Heidi Everett is urging anyone intending to submit an application not to miss the deadline.

“We have had a large number applying and we will certainly fill the course, but there is still a week to go so we are accepting applications until the last day. Don’t be late though, because we to would be disappointed if you miss out,” said Heidi.

The course, to be delivered in Melbourne, will produce a dozen multi-skilled broadcasters who will be available for employment across Australia.

“Students will understand both capital city and regional ratings, and will be trained to do a range of jobs from on air shifts, to production, news, sales, websites and a range of other jobs required in the radio station,” according to Heidi.

The course runs for 6 months and graduates will be on the job market in the middle of the year.

The team at RTI are preparing for the 2015 intake by upgrading the studios with new music and logging software and upgrading the RTI website. The new website will accommodate student biographies and deliver live streaming of broadcast simulations, so that prospective employers can hear the students’ work as it goes live to air.

As well as the full time course, RTI also runs short courses and weekend classes. The RTI training centre is on St Kilda Road in Melbourne.
