Dermot and Dave dive down under

Irish radio hosts Dermot Whelan and Dave Moore are embarking on a nationwide tour of Australia. The radio duo, from Today FM, will follow Ireland’s girls in green during their group stage matches in the Women’s World Cup as part of Dermot & Dave’s OUTBELIEVE Tour in partnership with Sky.

With 30% of the Australian population claiming Irish ancestry, Dermot & Dave are keen to meet as many Irish abroad they can find and ask them how they find living on the other side of the world. Is the grass really greener? Do they miss their Irish Mammy’s cooking? Is it really like an episode of Neighbours? All these questions and more, to be sure.

Dermot & Dave will leave Ireland on July 16 and host their show live from Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.

You can catch their live shows in the following locations:

  • Thursday July 20 – The Mercantile Hotel, The Rocks Sydney NSW (6pm-9pm SYD EST TIME)
  • Friday July 21 – North Bondi RSL, Sydney NSW (6pm-9pm SYD EST TIME)
  • Monday & Tuesday July 24 & 25 – Osborne Park Bowls Club, Perth WA (4pm-7pm, WA PST TIME)
  • Wednesday July 26 – The Mighty Quinn, Yokine, Perth WA (4pm-7pm, WA PST TIME)

Managing the tour from the Australian side is producer Grace Garde, formerly from SCA’s Jimmy & Nath Show based in Sydney as well as Today FM’s Manager Editor and Australian abroad – Fyona Smith, formerly Head of Radio & Podcasting AFTRS now based in Dublin, Ireland.

Dermot & Dave said:

“We cannot wait to go to Australia to cover the trip of the Irish Women’s National Team to the biggest football tournament on planet Earth. We’re going to be their number one cheerleaders and we’ll be bringing you all the action from the matches. That’s not all, we will find every teacher, every nurse, there won’t be a person on the streets wearing a GAA jersey in Australia that hasn’t been wrestled to the ground by Dermot & Dave to be interviewed!”

Managing Editor of Today FM Fyona Smith said:

“Two Irish guys in Australia, supporting the Irish Women’s National Team, whilst living in Airbnb’s and trying to find ‘Summer Bay’ and Quokkas is going to be quite the experience. Today FM is proud to support the Irish Women’s National Team. Game 1 when Australia plays Ireland is going to be intense!”

Dermot & Dave are trying to talk to every Irish expat they can find. If you’re Irish and want to send a message to your friends or family back home you can get in touch by just emailing the show [email protected] or follow along at Todayfm.com and @TodayFM.
