After almost two years of congestion in the Melbourne commercial FM market, the field is starting to spread with FOX on top on and KIIS at the bottom.
“KIIS in Melbourne was pretty disappointing for us,” says ARN Content supremo Duncan Campbell. “we can’t really hide behind it.
“We’ve certainly been aware for some that there were issues with the radio station, so we’ve been planning for some time some changes that we’ll put into effect over the coming months to ensure that next year is stronger for us. It’s really the last piece of our puzzle,” he said.
The station lost share across the board led by Matt Tilley and Jane Hall in Breakfast which shed 1.3 to slump to 5.7 overall. Hughesy and Kate dipped 1.7 in Drive to land on a 7.9 share, well behind Nova’s Kate, Tim & Marty on 9.5 and FOX FM’s Hamish & Andy on 12.8 and #1 in the market.
Mr Campbell would not be drawn as to what changes are in store, saying, “We are looking at the station as a whole and we will make whatever changes are necessary. We’ve demonstrated over the years we’re certainly not frightened to make changes if we have to and we will need to make them until we get the station right.”
