Erin and Soda off air in Adelaide

Mix 102.3’s breakfast presenter Soda was off air last Thursday and Friday “feeling unwell.”

However, he still delivered his scheduled television appearances.

Both he and new co-host Erin Phillips are now having a “break” and will not be on air for the rest of this week.

The unexpected extra week off before the scheduled Easter break, so early in the ratings year has set tongues wagging in Adelaide radio circles that the pair are unhappy with some key new appointments behind the scenes at the station. Soda, who is an influential personality in Adelaide and within the station, is known for strongly expressing his opinion if he is not happy.

Fuelling the scuttlebutt, rival Nova breakfast pair Ben & Liam lost no time in stirring the pot with a tongue in cheek press release expressing how “well” they feel.

Nothing to see here though, says ARN Group Content Director Duncan Campbell, who has told radioinfo:

“It’s been a huge start to the year and the team behind Adelaide’s #1FM Breakfast Show need a break so I have made the decision to give them a well-deserved week off.

Like all radio shows around the country, the team will be taking the scheduled survey break off air too.”
