Eskimo Joe guitarist joins 96FM Perth

Eskimo Joe guitarist Stu Macleod will join the on-air line-up of Fairfax Radio Network’s Perth station 96FM.

Macleod will be paired with long-time Drive presenter Darren DeMello to present the weekly “96FM Rock List” and makes his debut on Saturday, April 5th from 4pm to 6pm in Perth.

The Rock List is 96FM’s weekly countdown of Perth’s best new rock songs, compiled from download charts and 96FM’s online music panel.

Macleod, a resident of South Fremantle, said: “I grew up in Freo listening to 96FM, so it makes sense that when I thought of doing some radio presenting, 96FM was where I wanted to work.”

96FM and 6PR General Manager Martin Boylen said: “Stu is a gifted musician, songwriter and guitarist and we’re privileged to have him join our team. He has an outstanding knowledge of music genres and Stu’s quirky style and passion will make him a natural fit with our team at 96FM where we keep real music alive.

“Fairfax Radio Network has enjoyed a fast start to 2014 with a strong performance by 96FM in the first survey. Our key point of difference is being able to deliver an informed, intelligent and influential brand of radio and the addition of Stu to our team further demonstrates that. It is another step towards becoming the nation’s number one information and entertainment radio network.”

Home grown Perth band Eskimo Joe was formed in 1997 by Macleod, Joel Quartermain and Kavyen Temperley and the alternative rock group has since won eight ARIA Music Awards, particularly for its album ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’.
