You know the year has started in earnest when Survey 1 hits and the footy season’s just around the corner.

We won’t have any NRL or AFL scores for you but we will have the metro market survey results at 9:30 am today.

In what’s been described as the most competitive market in the world, the competition in 2019 will be tougher than ever, not just between radio stations but in the battle for share of listeners with other audio on a variety of platforms.

Regardless of the results tomorrow, most experienced programmers will play them down as too early in the year to tell what direction their station and shows are headed.

Nonetheless, like footy teams, they’ll be hoping for early points on the board and a place higher up the ladder.
