Footy on the Radar for fresh talent

Radar Music and The AFL have chosen the next four artists to perform as part of the 2012 Live at the Footy program. On selected Saturday nights in Melbourne across the 2012 Toyota AFL Premiership season, at either the MCG or Etihad Stadium, Live at the Footy will feature an established or emerging Australian artist, performing pregame and half time. The artist will also receive significant coverage and promotion across a range of channels including television, radio and online.

Ø Bluejuice: Essendon v Melbourne match at the MCG on June 2nd

Ø Faker: Essendon v Sydney Swans match at Etihad Stadium on June 9th

Ø San Cisco: St Kilda v Essendon match at Etihad Stadium on July 7th

Ø Lanie Lane: Geelong v Collingwood match at the MCG on July 14th

Live at the Footy is a joint project between the AFL and Radar Music that aims to support and showcase Australian artists, and build on the natural link between Australia’s game and Australian music. Live at the Footy is also supported by Channel 7 and Frontier Events.

Earlier in the season, Melbourne band Strange Talk performed at the Essendon v West Coast Eagles match as part of the Live at the Footy program.  Stephen Docker from Strange Talk said “Being Melbourne boys, getting a chance to play the AFL was nothing less than incredible and playing to a massive crowd was great fun… We could get used to playing to stadiums!”

AFL General Manager Strategy and Marketing Andrew Catterall said, “We are proud to provide opportunities for these four high calibre Australian acts to perform live on Saturday nights to huge AFL audiences, whilst adding another dimension to a night at the footy for our fans.”
