Four decades of Print Radio Tasmania celebrated with reception at Government House
To mark four decades of inclusion and accessibility as well as the contributions of volunteers, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, hosted a special reception at Government House to celebrate Print Radio Tasmania.
Her excellency said:
“As Patron, I was pleased to celebrate Print Radio Tasmania at Government House and I commend the organisation on its commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and community spirit.”
The evening saw several Volunteer Awards presented, acknowledging excellence in broadcasting and content creation including:
• Best Live Newspaper Broadcast Team: Bronwyn Fuller, Martin Stone & Regina Share
• Most Prolific Program Creators: Anne Keller & Ron Anderson (Anne and Print Radio Tasmania President Hrisanthi Dokos pictured main)
• Best Original Podcast: Vibes Under the Sea by Craig Proctor (Craig pictured below)
There was also a performance by Hobart Harmony, directed by Jenny Pyefinch, of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman.
The reception also allowed Print Radio Tasmania to pay tribute to outgoing President Elizabeth MacDonald, who led with distinction for ten years. A new leadership team was established in October 2024 including President Hrisanthi Dokos (main image left), Vice President Honor Marino, and Treasurer Ben Wilson.
There are already new shows and initiatives like the Women’s Voices Project, Literacy Legends, and the forthcoming Crip Culture podcast expanding opportunities for Tasmanian people with disabilities to build confidence, find community, and share their stories.
