Galey to the rescue of Domestic Violence on the Gold Coast

A number of Domestic violence victims on the Gold Coast will soon have access to an extra level of security thanks to the incredible efforts of 1029 Hot Tomato’s Galey.

Galey walked across the Gold Coast for 12 hours on Thursday to raise funds for Hearts Of Purple to purchase GPS tracking security watches for locals who need them, and as of this 8:30am morning, the total raised for Galey to the Rescue – The Walk for Watches was $73,644.65, equivalent to 56 watches.

Galey says, “I am so thankful and so proud. We couldn’t have done it without you Gold Coast.
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all of your support. If you donated on our Go Fund Me page, or you came and saw us on the streets, it is a big thank you.

“You guys have done a great thing raising a heap of money to help prevent domestic violence in our community.”

Michelle Beattie from Hearts Of Purple joined Galey for his entire walk from Helensvale to Coolangatta, with the pair covering more than 50 kilometres, and she says, “Wow! Big thank you to all the community out there on the Gold Coast.”

Hundreds of Gold Coasters opened up their hearts and wallets to donate to the cause, including a Hope Island couple who gave $10,400 to purchase 8 watches.
