Geelong radio host dates himself for Valentine’s Day

As loved-up couples across Australia prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Geelong’s bay 93.9 breakfast host Nic O’Riley has taken a different approach.

O’Riley – who co-hosts Mill & Nic in the Morning – has officially chosen to ‘date himself’ in a mockumentary-style video that’s resonating with single Aussies.

The tongue-in-cheek piece features dramatic narration, concerned colleagues, and O’Riley pouring two glasses of red wine before sitting on the couch beside a flickering candle — alone, but very much committed.

Beneath the humour is a pointed message about modern dating culture and being comfortable on your own.

“People are uncomfortable with someone being genuinely, happily single,” O’Riley says in the video.

“I know what I bring to the table. I’m supportive, consistent — and I’ve never ghosted myself.”

With dating fatigue and Valentine’s Day pressure widely discussed across social media, the video taps into a growing sentiment: being single isn’t something to apologise for.
