Celebrations are afoot in Geelong this morning, as bay 93.9’s Mill and Nic in the Morning Breakfast show clocks up its first birthday.
And despite being just one year since the show was formed, Lisa ‘Milly’ Millard and Nic O’Riley already display the kind of chemistry and running gags you’d expect to find in a lifelong friendship.
Today during their show, they’ll celebrate one lap around the sun by playing the ‘World’s Biggest game of Pass the Parcel,’ giving plenty of gifts to their loyal listeners, whilst reminiscing on the year that has been.
Beyond the on-air banter, there’s a genuine friendship at the heart of the show.
From smashing Zooper Doopers at outside broadcasts, helplessly wheezing with laughter through segments and talking about real issues with authenticity, Mill and Nic both describe the past year as having been a source of genuine joy.
Milly says “Every morning, I leave the studio with a sore jaw after laughing with Nic for 3 hours. Trying to help Nic through life by weening him off the darts and helping him find a better half has certainly been difficult, and I still have my work cut out for me … there’s always next year!”
Nic says “I honestly love working with Mill — even on those early starts when we both smell like regret and coffee. Waking up before the sun isn’t easy, but the second I walk into the studio and see Mill, my whole day lifts. We genuinely love turning up, having a laugh, and just being ourselves. The fact that our bay 93.9 family keeps showing up for us blows my mind — I really love our listeners. It makes it all worth it. Except maybe the 4am alarm… still working on loving that.”
