Global suicide first aid training organisation announces second series of suicide prevention podcasts

Global suicide first aid training organisation, LivingWorks, have released the second series of their podcast, A World Where LIvingWorks.

Episodes will discuss everything from modern masculinity to galvanising faith groups. They will look at the challenges of walking in two worlds as First Nations People, refugee and migrant families who call two countries home, and how to create safe spaces for LGBTIQ communities.

The first episode, focused on men and suicide prevention, was launched to coincide with Movember.

Host, Kim Borrowdale says of the series “I’ve been honoured to hear and share the stories of people from around the world; their struggles, their strengths, their shared desire to support others to live well. Every community and culture is different. But suicide and its prevention is something we all have in common.”

LivingWorks Australia CEO, Shayne Connell, says, “We have standard training programs in place for people to learn physical first aid skills and this knowledge has saved countless lives. However, not many people realise that in Australia you are far more likely to come into contact with someone thinking about suicide than someone in cardiac arrest. I believe every Australian adult has a responsibility to educate themselves in how to best support those around them in their greatest time of need.”

Talking opening about suicide is so important but if listening to the series brings up tough emotions in you, please reach out to a family member or friend to talk about how you’re feeling.
