Gordie Waters has notched up a decade on air for The KIIS Network. He broadcasts from 10am – 3pm on KIIS 106.5 in Sydney, KIIS 101.1 in Melbourne and KIIS 97.3 in Brisbane. The network has put together a ten year tribute of the effervescent Gordie in action that you can watch below:
Gordie has been nominated several times in the Best Music Presenter category at the ACRAs, has been the voice of countless live New Years Eve countdowns and, via his involvement with the Sydney Mardi Gras, broke the news of the result of Australia’s 2017 marriage equality vote to KIIS listeners. He also hosts the iHeart Australia’s weekend music show (formerly Planet Oz), the DAB+ station dedicated to Australian artists old and new.
The head of KIIS Network Derek Bargwanna said:
“Gordie Waters has been a huge part of KIIS 1065 for the last 10 years, keeping our listeners engaged and connected every step of the way. He’s got an incredible knack for making radio feel personal, and we’re so lucky to have him on the team. Cheers to Gordie for an amazing decade on KIIS!”
Gordie said of the milestone:
“What an absolute privilege it is to have been doing this job for the last ten years. I am so lucky, connecting with our KIIS listeners daily and sharing stories, banter and lots of laughs. I love the variety in my job, no two days are the same and it’s never boring. I have loved chatting with some of the biggest celebs in the world, but equally some of the best laughs I’ve had are with the listeners that call up to the show.
It’s been so fun to broadcast to Sydney for the last decade, and I am excited to be doing so to Brisbane and my hometown of Melbourne in 2025.”
