A grand’s worth of Jazz, Pure & Simple

Maureen Meers has just presented the 1,000th edition of her jazz program, Jazz, Pure and Simple, on Fine Music 102.5FM

Maureen grew up with music, her father was a competitive ballroom dancer and there was always big band music playing in the house, and in her teens Maureen joined a musical society and was introduced to operettas, musicals and to the world of opera.

While working for various United Nations Agencies and living in Switzerland and then the UK, she was introduced to classical music.

Maureen is a retired accountant who joined Fine Music in 1994 and has presented programs across the musical spectrum including Concert Hall, In a Sentimental Mood, Classic Jazz and Ragtime, the Magic of Stage and Screen and Jazz, Pure and Simple.

She also makes her programs available for use by smaller community broadcasters.

There are many listeners celebrating with Maureen, with one passionate listener saying, “Congratulations! It’s amazing but not surprising that you have reached this number of Broadcasts. I’ve heard most, if not all of them. They’re wonderful and I really look forward to hearing lots more”.

Maureen admits, “For me, every program is a delight, sharing my love of jazz with Fine Music’s music loving audience.”
