Great catch: Fishing Fellas joins forces with Hi Tide on Coast FM 693

For two decades, it’s been the go-to destination for all things angling on the NSW Central Coast.

And this month, Coast FM 963’s Fishing Fellas has joined forces with Hi Tide, thought to be the longest running fishing and boating radio program in the world.

After more than three decades on air, the Hi Tide Fishing and Boating show, presented by Kieran Reekie, Alan Blake and Grant Boyden, has teamed up with resident fisherman and Fishing Fellas host Mal Poole and Coast FM 963 for the Fishing Fellas at Hi Tide.

This week, the community station received special recognition, with a congratulatory letter arriving at Coast FM headquarters from none other than the Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gorden Reid, MP.

“Congratulations on involving the Fishing Fellas with Hi Tide. wonderful achievement!” It read.

Poole says high tide is the peak time for catching fish.

“And certainly, the Hi Tide team have been the peak of communication around recreational and commercial fishing for many, many years.”

“They’ll add a depth of extra knowledge around boating and fishing; those guys just kill it.”

Reekie says Poole is held in great respect in the fishing world.

“If you really want to understand what’s happening on the Central Coast, you listen to his advice.”

David Golding from Marine Rescue Central Coast also believes the new show format will build a wider audience, whilst also reinforcing the importance of boating safety.

“Partnering with Coast FM and other media outlets is probably one of the most important things we’ve ever done,” he says.

The Fishing Fellas at Hi Tide can be heard 6-8am Saturday mornings on Coast FM 963.
