The greater 3UZ turns 90 this weekend

One of Australian radio’s most famous callsigns, The Greater 3UZ, returns to the airwaves this weekend to mark the 90th birthday of the Melbourne station.

Victoria’s racing and sport station, RSN, the holder of the original 3UZ licence, will rebrand itself as 3UZ for a day, bringing back the legendary callsign, jingles and IDs.

This week, leading up to the March 8th birthday, RSN has honoured the stars and shows that made 3UZ Melbourne’s highest rating station, year after year. RSN’s racing and sport service remained a priority, but the station presented many golden moments from 3UZ’s history, remembering stars like Stan Rofe, Don Lunn, Allan Lappan, Bert Newton, Graham Kennedy, legendary racecaller Bert Bryant (pictured above), and music icons such as Frank Sinatra and The Beatles.
