SAFM breakfast duo Michael and Hayley told their audience this morning that they have decided to finish up on the breakfast shift.
Hayley Pearson and Michael Beveridge’s last broadcast will be on October 10th.
After years of early morning radio starts, Hayley, who is pregnant with her second child, is looking forward to a change of pace and spending more quality time with her husband Jimmy, young son Austin, and upcoming new addition to the family.
With this news, co-host Michael Beveridge has also made the decision not to stay on at SAFM breakfast. He has some “exciting opportunities” within the network that SCA cannot announce yet. He will continue to be heard on SAFM with his national Weekend Breakfast program on Saturdays and Sundays.
Hayley Pearson told listeners she has decided to “leave SAFM and to have a break from breakfast radio and to focus on other exciting radio and tv opportunities that offer more family friendly hours for the meantime. SAFM has been really supportive of our decision… I love radio so much but I didn’t want to miss out on this time with my family.”
Southern Cross Austereo Head of Content Craig Bruce has told radioinfo: “Hayley is a very talented individual and her commitment to listeners and SAFM during her time in breakfast has been invaluable. We wish her all the best. We think Michael is a real star and we’re looking at lots of opportunities for him at the moment, with an announcement on what’s next not too far away.”
Earlier this year Burgo left the show, which scored a 6.7% share of the Adelaide breakfast audience last survey. SAFM lifted significantly in survey 5, but is still placed 7th in the market. Survey 6 results will be released next week.
