Jennie Lenman has reflected on some of her first moments on air as this week, she celebrates six years at 5MU in South Australia’s Murray Bridge.
Jennie – who co-hosts Breakfast alongside Adam Connelly – continues to carve a successful career as a journalist and announcer at both 5MU and its ARN sister station Power FM.
In a social media post, Jennie said “It appears I’ve come a long way, from clinging to scripts out of fear of saying the wrong thing, to becoming totally at ease with the unknown, ad-libbing, and loosening up.”
“Adam Connelly, Rob McLennan and the team here at Radio 5MU and Power FM SA have helped me get out my comfort zone and grow as an announcer and journalist, embrace my unique personality in all its greatness (AND CRINGEYNESS) and find my voice.”
In thanking listeners, friends and mentors for their ongoing support, Jennie said “Here’s to many more years of growth, and getting better at copping scrutiny, learning from mistakes, and just making great content.”
“At the end of the day, it’s not really about me at all, but about helping people feel connected, understood and informed.”
To celebrate the occasion, 5MU posted ‘then’ and ‘now’ photos, marking Jennie’s radio journey.
“From the first photo working here to the last, we love working with Jennie and we know you love having her on air too.”
