Even though he has resigned from Sydney’s The Edge 96.1, Mark Hine has outlasted his long running breakfast partner, Jo Abi.

With Abi off on maternity leave, Hine is doing the breakfast show solo until his last day on air on Friday 23 April.

After close to seven years on air with The Edge, Hine is set to try his luck at backpacking overseas.

He chose to reveal his plans on air late last month, thanking listeners for supporting him for such a long time: “I find this very hard to talk about. Basically, I need a break and want to spend more time with my wife. I’ll think long and hard about what I want to do in the months ahead.”

While Jo Abi plans returning in about three months, Lee Bevington will cover breakfast until 96.1 management decides on a permanent replacement.
