Hospital says it did not receive calls from station

King Edward VII Hospital contradicts claims that the station tried to make contact. 2Day FM tried five times to check the prank call with the King Edward VII hospital, according to SCA Chief Executive Rhys Holleran at this weekend’s media conference, but the hospital says it did not receive any calls to its management or PR departments.

The hospital spokesman told the Daily Mail: “Following the hoax call they did not speak to senior management or the company that deals with our media enquiries.”

Meanwhile public sentiment may be turning against the British tabloids, with twitter, facebook and other commentators pointing out that the nurse was not identified in the Australian audio, but that the prank came to prominence due to coverage in the British press.

This comment expressing that viewpoint on the Daily Mail website’s comments page, was later removed by the paper.
