Peter Stubbs is best known as “Grubby” as in Grubby and Dee Dee, the legendary Melbourne radio duo that’s graced FOX, GOLD104.3 and 3AW.
You may also know him as Richard Stubbs’ brother.
What few people knew, til NINE News blew the whistle on it over the weekend, was that he is a model railway enthusiast of some stature. It’s an ancient hobby that dates back to before computer games were invented last century.
Among celebrity ranks, Grubby’s not alone. Fellow train enthusiasts, past and present, include Rod Stewart, Roger Daltry, Neil Young, Peter Sellers and Johnny Cash.
Frank Sinatra had an entire wing of his house devoted to a layout reputedly worth over a million dollars. He also had a framed sign on the wall that said, “He who dies with the most toys wins.”
For more than 30 years, the man known to his listeners as “Grubby” has been a constant on our airwaves.
