Broad Radio founder and presenter Jo Stanley says she is feeling overwhelmed by her extraordinary good fortune, after a freak accident at home over the weekend left her with a 7 centimetre shard of glass lodged in her back, narrowly missing her spine.
In a social media post, Stanley revealed that a large picture frame fell from a bookshelf onto her, shattering the glass.
Whilst Stanley reassured friends and followers that she is totally fine, the x-ray photos show just how close the glass shard came to causing permanent damage.
Stanley thanked her husband Daz, daughter Willow, friends, family, hospital staff and the loved ones who’ve been checking on her ever since.
“I know how very lucky I am – and feel the need to sit with this gift. I know for so many people this is not the case. Today I’m very emotional, as I take in what feels like truly a miracle.”
“At 7am I was mumbling something about getting up and getting my shit together for the day and Daz said ‘for god’s sake take one day to unravel. Let the threads loose. Let the seams hang out.’”
“So this, I’m doing.”
Created by women, for women, Broad Radio launched full programming in October.
Four years in the making, the mission of the radio and podcast platform is to carry diverse voices, experiences and perspectives.
