Iluka to represent Australia at ABU Song Festival 2014

Iluka, the inaugural winner of the Commercial Radio Australia (CRA) and Mushroom Group music initiative First Break will represent Australia tonight at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Song Festival.

Held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the ABU Song Festival 2014 is the second radio song festival held by the ABU. Organisers hope the festival will become the Asian counterpart to the famous Eurovision Song Festival, with entrants from more than 12 countries already competing.

Iluka said: “My Sri Lanka adventure awaits, I’m really looking forward to performing at the ABU Song Festival and representing Australia.”

Since winning First Break in 2013, the Sydney born singer-songwriter, Iluka has released her first single “12th July” and received radio support from commercial stations across Australia.

She has shared the stage with acts as varied as Matt Corby, The Rubens and Georgia Fair and in October last year performed in front of 1200 radio, music and media executives from around Australia at the 25th Australian Commercial Radio Awards in Brisbane.

Australia was represented at the ABU Song Festival in 2012 by Commercial Radio Australia’s NA2R winner, Danielle Blakey.  Her song ‘Fearless’ won gold at the Seoul festival, winning out against 14 other competitors.
