Zac De Silva joins Nine Radio’s Canberra Bureau

2GB‘s award-winning journalist Zac De Silva is joining Nine Radio’s Canberra Bureau where he’ll be filing for 2GB and other network stations.

The 23-year-old announced he’s looking forward to the move on Twitter.

“Today seems like a nice quiet day to announce I’m leaving @2GB873’s Sydney newsroom to cover politics from the Nine Radio Canberra bureau,” wrote Zac.

“I’m stoked to be joining the one and only @michaelpachi in covering what’s shaping up to be a fascinating term in federal parliament.”

Zac began his radio career at 2SER in 2019 while studying journalism. Then news director Geoff Field put him on air after hearing him read an audition, then the following year, Zac won the prestigious Brian White Scholarship.

Zac also won an award at 2SER for his reporting on the women’s marches.

Field told radioinfo that he wasn’t surprised when Zac was poached to work at Southern Cross Austereo in Albury, then headhunted by Natalie Peters for his current job at 2GB.

Zac says he can’t wait to get to Canberra, and says the main worry is working out how to navigate his way around parliament house.
