Jackie O (KIIS 1065) & Dave ‘Hughsey’ Hughes (Hit Network) will team up with Dannii Minogue and Lindsay Lohan for the Australian version of The Masked Singer.
Ten’s new music game show is based on the South Korean franchise that made headlines in 2018 when actor Ryan Gosling, dressed as a unicorn, sang his heart out with a rendition of Tomorrow from Annie.
Each week 12 celebrities, including sportspeople, comedians, models and TV personalities, sing beneath bizarre disguises with Jackie O, Hughesy, Minogue and Lohan tasked with discovering their identities.
Osher Günsberg will host the program and when asked about the Masked Singer Jackie O said “I was really excited by the concept, it’s so unique and like nothing we’ve seen on Australian TV before. I love that everyone can play along at home trying to guess which celebrities are under the mask. I’m also excited for my daughter to see it, she will love it.”
The US version was launched in January averaged 11 million viewers and has been renewed for two more seasons with the first season won by T-Pain, disguised as a monster, beating out Gladys Knight.
Filming for the Channel 10 series kicks off later this year
