Jade Robran was on air at FIVEaa this morning when she heard the news that her uncle had passed away.
North Adelaide football legand Barrie Robran died overnight, aged 77. After an outstanding playing career in 2001, he was elevated to legend status in the Australian Football Hall of Fame, the first South Australian to be awarded that honour.
His niece Jade, and co-host Tom Rehn, were filling in during the survey break for Will Goodings and David Penberthy, when she heard about her uncle.
Tom Rehn told listeners: “Jade unfortunately has had to go home, there has been some unexpected and very tragic news — there’s been a death in her family, so we wish Jade all the very best.” He sent her good wishes and love as she was driving home from the station. “Hopefully she’ll be back tomorrow. That’s very very sad news,” said Rehn.
Rehn finished the breakfast show solo after Jade left.
