James Willis to host Money News for Nine radio stations

James Willis has been enticed back to join Nine Radio as the new host of national finance program Money News. The show has had fill in presenters since Deborah Knight departed at the end of June.

One of those who has been filling in is Brooke Corte. Nine had also welcomed Brooke back after two years raising her young family. She will now host a series of financial podcasts for 2GB and look after Money News when James fills in on Breakfast for Ben Fordham.

James Willis had held a senior role with The Daily Telegraph for the last nearly two years. Prior to that he was at 2GB for more than a decade, many as the EP for Ben as well as sports reporter roles. He is pictured here after winning Best Radio Show Producer (Metro) at the 2023 ACRAs.

James will take over Money News in 2026 and step into the very familiar hosting chair on 2GB Breakfast when Ben is on leave.

Nine Radio’s National Content Manager, Greg Byrnes, said:

“James and Brooke are back where they belong. James, a fresh and respected voice in Sydney media, is a pivotal signing for Money News and a crucial addition to Ben Fordham’s top rating breakfast show on 2GB. Brooke’s highly anticipated return brings her finance expertise and respected industry standing back to the network. Alongside James, these two first class broadcasters are set to thrill our listeners once again.

Evan Lucas has done an outstanding job filling in on Money News and I thank him for his work over recent months. Evan will continue in the role until James officially takes over in 2026”.

Brooke Corte said:

“I’m incredibly excited to be back and to dive into the world of financial broadcasting once again. The opportunity to host a new series of financial podcasts and contribute to Money News is something I’m truly passionate about, and I can’t wait to engage with our listeners across the country.”

And, James Willis said:

“It’s been a privilege to work at The Daily Telegraph over the past two years and my sincere thanks to the team for their support, encouragement and advice. I’m leaving with very fond memories.

Ultimately my lifelong dream has been to be a radio host and so this was an opportunity too good to refuse. I’m very excited to be coming back to 2GB.”

Money News can be heard from Monday to Thursday, 7pm-8pm across the Nine Radio network, including 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR.
