John Blackman heading back to hospital

John Blackman is about to undergo another round of surgery on his face after his lower jaw was removed and reconstructed 18 months ago.

Doctors feared the cancer in his jaw would spread to his brain if not removed.

Blackman told Nine News Melbourne:

“I sound awful and I probably look awful but believe it or not I’m a very, very healthy 72 year old…

“They didn’t take out the voice box, they didn’t take out the motor, just the exhaust sounds a little woofy.”

He will be readmitted into Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital tomorrow to start the process of getting teeth and a lower lip.
