After a wildly successful 2019 Mardi Gras, Australia’s LGBTIQA+ radio station JOY 94.9 has promised bigger and better for 2020 with a focus on this year’s theme, ‘What Matters’.
JOY’s Ti Butler, Rachel Morrison, Jordan Johnstone, and Dee Mason will be broadcasting live from the parade, with street reporters Nicholas Hynes, Kate Payne and Tom Morgan providing live interviews with parade participants throughout the event.
After winning the CBAA award for Best Special Event Broadcast for the Mardi Gras last year, JOY’s Program Director Rachel Tyler Jones says this year will be bigger and better,
‘I know our team is up to the challenge. We’ll be working hard to make sure we showcase the voices of our community, while also bringing our listeners live coverage of the parade. We’ll also have JOY volunteers on a float in the parade, so we’ll be covering the event from every angle.’
JOY 94.9’s live coverage of the 2020 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras starts February 29, from 7:00pm. You can tune in via 94.9FM in Melbourne, or on JOY’s livestream at joy.org.au.
