Kate Langbroek targets ATO scammer live on air

Last week the ATO sent out a release, warning consumers that scammers were particularly prevalent this time of year, the tax season.

“In the last couple of years, not only have we seen a significant increase in the number of scams reported to us but also the different types of approaches used by fraudsters,” warned Assistant Commissioner Graham Whyte.

So Kate Langbroek from KiiS FM‘s Hughesy and Kate pretends to be duped by a scammer who demands money.

The KIIS Drive co-host came across the scam, when her own mother said she had been contacted by a man purporting to be from the ATO, alleging criminal actions and that a warrant had been issued.

Kate phoned the number back, and pretended to be her mother.
